Responding to the Needs of Fort McMurray

In such a short period of time, life changed for the people of Fort McMurray. For the majority of us, we have no idea what they have gone through; to driving through the fire to reach safety, to leave their homes, schools, workplaces and their faith communities. So many have helped them with providing accommodations, food, hygiene essentials and everything else needed. Our parish community through the recommendation of our Bishop came together to collect monetary donations that have reached $6348.00. Thank you. Thank you also for the donations that will be coming in this weekend. You have all been so very generous.

The Cold Lake Food Bank is looking for volunteers to help those who come in to pick up food and other supplies. These are the times they are in need of help:

Sunday May 22 12:00 – 5:00 2 People
Monday May 23 9:00 – 1:00 2 People
Monday May 23 1:00 – 5:00 2 People
Tuesday May 24 9:00 – 1:00 2 People
Tuesday May 24 1:00 – 5:00 2 People

Please call (780) 201-6589 if you can offer help. The Cold Lake Food Bank is located in the Community Baptist Church.

God, we may not understand how everything will work out, or when the families from Fort McMurray will be allowed back home, but we need to trust in you. We have faith that at this very moment, you are touching the hearts of everyone affected by “the beast”. You are opening doors, and lining up opportunities for them. We know that things look dark and bleak to so many but YOU are the light that will help them to move forward. We know that through our faith in you, all is possible. God, we offer up our prayers to you knowing that you are carrying all those affected, so in your mercy Lord, we pray! Amen!
