January 25 is the Feast Day of the Conversion of St. Paul the Apostle.
What a violent man Paul was towards the Christians. It was when he was journeying to Damascus that he and his party was surrounded by a great light. He heard someone speak, “Saul, Saul why do you persecute me?
From that conversation with Jesus, Paul went out to be baptized, and began the untiring task of proclaiming to everyone that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the Son of God.
The last years of Paul were spent doing missionary work. In 66 AD he returned to Rome, where he was taken prisoner and beheaded a year later.
His legacy was the letters he wrote that appear in the bible. Those letters are often used for our Sunday readings.
